The NJ-Singles Chat system is a self contained program that includes features like general chat rooms and private chat, pop up messages, off-line messages, profiles, file transfers, dice rolls, slapping users, kicking users and more. The Singles Chat client program only works on Windows platforms.

Before you can log into the chat system you must follow these rules:
1. You must be a Premium Member in good standing who has confirmed your email address.
2. You must download and install the chat software.
3. User names are not automatically added to the chat system when you sign up to NJ-Singles.com. Please allow up to 24 hours for your user name to be added to the chat system.

Download Instructions
The software is simple to download and install.

Step 1 - Click HERE to download the Singles Chat client software. The download window will open asking you where to save the program on your computer. Choose a location, and remember where you saved it. In case you misplace the downloaded file, the file name is njschat.exe, you can do a search for the file.

Step 2 - Open up Windows Explorer or My Computer. Navigate to the directory where you saved the njschat.exe file. Double click the file and it will automatically install.

Step 3 - During the process of installing the software you will see two Registry Editor windows. The first one asks the question "Are you sure you want to add the information in C:\PROGRA~1\NJ-SIN~1\NJSING~1.REG to the registry?"answer YES. The second window tell you "Information in C:\PROGRA~1\NJ-SIN~1\NJSING~1.REG has been successfully entered into the registry." click OK.

You will not get any message saying the software installation is finished. The installation program does not give any options of installation location. It automatically creates a shortcut on your Start Menu and your Desktop.

Starting the Singles Chat

Step 1 - Double click on the icon on your desktop, or click on Start--> Programs--> NJ-Singles--> Singles Chat.
The program requires the Windows DLL file MSVCP50.DLL. Most Windows computers already have this dll installed. If you have problems you can get the dll from Microsoft's web site or download it directly HERE. You will need to save the file in your C:\Windows\System directory. On some browsers you may need to right click on the link above and select "Save Link As..." then save it to your C:\Windows\System directory.

Step 2 - The "Connect to HyperChat Server" window will open asking for your user name.

Note to Gay Members: We have set up a different chat server dedicated to the type of chat rooms you normally found in the LGBT community. To use this chat server select it from the drop down list of Servers. You can make this your default chat server by clicking on the Connection-Manager button, selecting NJ-Singles Gay Chat then clicking the Set Default button. Click OK to return to the "Connect to HyperChat Server" window and you will be ready to log in.
NJ-Singles does not allow adult content and explicate advertising for sexual encounters on its web site. However, since several members of our staff are gay, including Matt the head programmer, we understand the need to provide our gay community with the freedom of more adult oriented chat rooms (i.e. hookup rooms and adult chat profiles). Therefore the NJ-Singles Gay Chat Rooms are dedicated to you and our other gay members, and you are invited to use the service freely. Our Terms of Use policy is still enforced in the Gay Chat Rooms.
Members who have not set their preferences (under Your Account) to view Bisexual or Gay content will not be able to enter the Gay Chat Rooms.

Step 3 - Type in your NJ-Singles user name and click the Connect button. The HyperChat program will open.

Step 4 - Type your NJ-Singles.com password in the "Identification required" window and click the OK button.

You will automatically enter the Public Channel room of NJ-Singles Chat.

Using Singles Chat

Make sure you fill out your chat profile. This quick profile is available to all the other chat members. This profile does not tie into the NJ-Singles.com website profile. Information you enter here will not appear on the web site, and viceversa

You can change chat rooms by clicking on the chat room name in the Channel List window. The users in that chat room will appear in the User List below the Channel List window.

To send a message simply type the message box at the bottom of the chat client window and press the Enter key or click Send Message.

Before you can send a message directly to, or use on of the Fun features you must click on the recipient's name in the User List window.
